The Collaborative Center for Landslide Geohazards (CCLG) seeks to establish a sustainable and long-lived center with the following objectives:

  1. Elucidate fundamental causes and triggering mechanisms of landslides.
  2. Develop an understanding of cascading hazards resulting from these phenomena.
  3. Communicate knowledge and preparedness activities through a novel “Landslide Ready” program.
  4. Serve as coordinator and convener of multiple geographic regions of landslide research excellence.
  5. Provide a platform for fieldwork and modeling tools specific to landslide science.
  6. Develop future science leaders and curriculum materials related to the center objectives.

These efforts will lead to better predictions and understanding of landsliding and related impacts like sediment transport and deposition, the carbon cycle and landscape evolution, and synergism with the biosphere. The scientific approach will combine existing observations and focused field efforts with advanced modeling of behavior.
